(This might eventually be fit the poetry forum, but what the heck...) Favorite might not be the correct way of putting it. What words or short phrases set off some sort of spark in you? Be it due to imagery, sound (pronunciation, alliteration, ect..), juxtaposition, or for no specific reason at all. The more off-the-wall the better. ;D I'll start with one that isn't completely unusual - but not necessarily obvious. (at least to me) It's the phrase that made me think of starting this thread:
"Southern Cross" I know, I know, what is it with him and the bloody sky!
Now I've never actually seen the thing in real life. I honestly can't say what it is about that particular phrase.. I'm still trying to pin it down. It does remind me of Robotech though. (which really has never been a bad thing.) --Matt

matt, if you lived over here, you definitely wouldn't like that phrase. we have a string of club/bar/casino things called Southern Cross Clubs over here, and they clog our TV stations with shitty ads and drain our money! ARGH!
as for cool sky phrases, i like "the sky is bruised today/ and sensual mist massages cloud" (i wrote that, hehe). i also love imagery referring to the depth of the sky ("inky blackness", "brooding cloud", "undulating colour")... we have the most amazing skies over here - nothing as dramatic as northern lights, but really pretty sunsets that are never even vaguely similar, and rich, thick nightimes. oooh, i like that one: "rich, thick nightimes!"
feeling poetic ;D

lol, so true we have like quite a few 'southern cross' clubes in canberra... they are the sorta sad places where the unemployed hang out and gamble all their money away... ie: they are not exactly classy... i like ur phrases dan.. especially the sky is bruised today/ and sensual mist massages cloud, that is amazing!

I figured as much.. the constellation is even on the Australian flag (and New Zealand too, I think). I'd venture to say I'd still like the phrase.. I'd just be upset at all of the other things associated with it.
Here's another simple one I've mentioned on the BT board
"Tripping the Light Fantastic"

bah, Mo: be more respectful of your brother's threads! as for Tripping the Light Fantastic, i agree: BT had some fucking awesome phrases for IMA. even Loving You More is awesome. Deeper Sunshine has too be my fave, tho. i also like Sasha's name for his mix - the Deeper Future Dub

To be fair... I had become enamored with that phrase long before BT released the song. But that was an incredibly good choice on his part. Now the real question: how big a part did the title play in making that my favorite song off of Ima? --Matt
I'm not sure where I first saw it.. possibly one of the Robotech novels. (a sci-fi series I can read and reread).
I also know I've seen it in at lest two different thesaurus'.

To put it simply - "tripping the light fantastic" is dancing.
An strangely appropriate term for it, I might add.

"A bag of Bones" I've seen people who fit this description very well, and the term itself is really descriptive. On the IMA topic.... "Embracing the Future" That's a really cool term, it sounds so positive, and it's good advice
