i think my heart just broke. you MUST hear this song by Lamb... Gabriel. it is the most amazing thing i have heard for a long time.... and i thought i'd had enough musical epiphanies this year! oh my.... i am stunned... you can listen to the song here: www.lambstar.net/gabriel/lyrics.html wow. 'Gabriel' - Lamb I can fly But I want his wings I can shine even in the darkness But I crave the light that he brings Revel in the songs that he sings My angel Gabriel
I can love But I need his heart I am strong even on my own But from him I never want to part He's been there since the very start My angel Gabriel My angel Gabriel
Bless the day he came to be Angel's wings carried him to me Heavenly I can fly But I want his wings I can shine even in the darkness But I crave the light that he brings Revel in the songs that he sings My angel Gabriel My angel Gabriel My angel Gabriel

I don't want to burst your bubble dude, but as I recall from the chat room several times you basically scoffed at religions like Catholicism and/or Christianity (they're the same thing anyway.) You DO realize what the song is about, right?

my problem with catholicism and some aspects of christianity is multi-pronged, and encompasses everything from the guilt-complex ("repent or you go to hell") to the power structures and dogma present within church. i don't scoff at the religion, though, because it is undeniably huge and contains a helluva lot of good stuff.
i disagree with "catholicism and christianity are the same" - if one is to follow the line of argument that all religion is, in essence, the same, then i agree: but, if you are to view different religions as seperate, then the disparities between catholicism and other branches of "the christian faith" can't be ignored. christianity itself sprouted from judaism, and shares many core concepts/practices/beliefs..... but it ain't considered "the same".
if i seemed to scoff at christianity, it wasn't my intent. i have major problems with it, yes (darn christian schools i've attended), and i'm pretty vocal in voicing my dissent, if you like - but i still have respect for christians/christianity, so i'm sorry if that came across wrong.
as for the song.... the christian imagery is just that: imagery. the song itself is about:
"having a big love for a particular human being, where you're just very glad that they're out there in the world."
- Lou from Lamb
undoubtedly, her faith influences the portrayal of that love, but i fail to see how it "bursts my bubble". even if the song was about religion (which it isn't, at least directly), it doesn't mean that my apprieciation is lessened in any way.
;D
