PS... I'd like to add a group I just recently found out about.. Sunscreem rocks! Though technically that was this year.... damn Oh well.. how about a group called Mephisto Odyssey? Their cd "The Deep Red Connection" is, for the most part, really cool. They have a lot of almost industrial tunes, and some great breakbeat/dnb... as well as a track that I'll call funky house with attitude (this was released in 2K, but I didn't buy it till right at XMas time) And one more thing.. Unrelated... It seems so weird to me to have Christmas in the summertime, but I'm sure it seems weird to aussies to have Christmas in the winter LOL

Christmas is summer is TOTALLY fucked. coming from England to Australia, and having to endure an "Aussie Christmas" was utter crap for someone who's not exactly 'religious', the fun of Christmas is the coldness, the holiday, the carols in drafty English churches.... snuggling up inside when it gets dark at 3pm! over here it's like, "let's go swimming, mate! pass me another icy cold beer!"

Let's just say my last xmas was more like a xxxmas! I too spent most of it under a fan (literally) - at the wish of my Master.
Having a Master is not nearly as kinky as you may think. I mean, Jeannie called her master "Master", and "I Dream of Jeannie" was aired in a G time-slot.
If you beg to differ, then I suggest you perhaps contact your local television station.

if you count 2000 releases that i only heard this year, aimee mann's "bachelor no 2" wins hands down. Other than that, its all about:
1. lamb - what sound (reminded me why i like spending time alone in my room) 2. bjork - vespertine (better and better with every listen) 3. kosheen - resist (hard to) 4. sugababes - one touch (perfect pop harmony, something so often underrated) 5. (TIE) missy elliot - miss e... so addictive (indispensible for getting ya freak on) & india.arie - acoustic soul
worth a mention: tori amos - strange little girls; ben folds - rockin the suburbs; dido - no angel (see above disclaimer); nikka costa - evrybody got their something; kelis - wanderland; britney spears - britney; gorillaz - gorillaz
worst... yeah, afroman is a good contender, maybe natalie merchant hehehe
oh and shpongle (NOT shpongled) are ok too...

*muscles everyone else out of the way* my turn: Kristin Hersh - Sunny Border Blue *love songs for the severly fucked up. i think thats why i like it so much. and i've always had a thing for female vocalists who just totally let it rip. Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions - Bavarian Fruit Bread *is a 2002 release locally, but was 2001 in the UK so it just gets in amazingly sensual, relaxing, drifting...*sigh* Bjork - Vespertine *indescribably lush. Neil Finn - One Nil *amazing songwriting, great production (yay tchad). and its got LISA GERMANO on it! Natalie Merchant - Motherland *shut up roozi. this lady is brilliant. other mentions: Suzanne Vega - Songs in Red and Gray, Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls, Heather Nova - South predictions for 2002: Alanis Morissette - Under Rug Swept, Tanya Donelly - Beautysleep, Betchadupa's one when it comes out, Tori's new one. Maybe Sarah McLachlan's this year.
