Best/Worst Music of 2001?

It's that time of year again! Everyone list what really got them excited (music-wise ) this year.

~ Lamb - What Sound: woooooooooooooooooooooooooo! with incredible production, heart-melting vocals and a certain indefinable flair, Lamb have my vote for the "they're not new, but i just discovered them and love them" award!

~ Bjork - Vespertine: my first real taste of Bjork, and I am blown away. songs like Pagan Poetry and Unison really threw my expectations. This album is like curling up in an ice-cave with a full orchestra playing very softly and Bjork singing in your ears...

~ BT - anything that came out this year: ;D  ... actually, Still Life in Motion kicks ass. it's nicely paced and has a good mix of studio tracks (albiet old ones) and reworks. R+R ain't overly magical, but still gets a 10/10 in the 'cool' stakes

~ Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls: woohoo, Tori! this grew on me from "shitty idea" to "nice collection". sure, some bits aren't overly great, but there are enuff cool songs, interesting musical choices and stupid outfits to keep my happy .... plus, seeing her live () kinda cemented my undying adoration this year.

KICKASS DISCOVERIES THIS YEAR (including stuff i knew, but never really listened to): A Perfect Circle, Kasey Chambers, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Way Out West, Something for Kate...


i'm sure i'll think of more, but that's all i have so far. what about everyone else? how about most HATED song/album?

~ Afroman - Because I Got High: aaaargh! go and give pot a bad name, why don't you! FUCKING AWFUL SONG!

best - Deep Dish's GU, Sandra Collins' Cream, the background music to The Fast and the Furious, Frequency video game (even though i don't own it and haven't played it yet, i'm still putting it up there)

worst - Daft Punk.  'nuff said.

i'm listening to ESCM now, and it's really good

Mmm, Way out West obviously had a knock out, drop-dead year whether or not some of you agree w/ me or not.  Jody Wisternoff also put out a killer mix cd...w/ plenty of pump & variation (Way out There, of course).

SI Beggs, Shpongled and Groove Armada also had albums worthy of mention.

Hi guys!

I'd have to say Way out West's Intensify was a jaw dropping release this year. Wow. Probably my favorite album released this year. There are a few more I should probably be able to mention but I haven't bought them yet due to the fact that I'm poor as dirt. Oh well.

I can't really say what I was most disappointed with, but I will say that Daft Punk sucks hahahaha. yikes.

i must confess, i don't have any WOW CDs..... just mp3s, and assorted singles with WOW mixes (i listened to If I Survive yesterday).

they're one of those groups that, for some reason, completely elude my shopping memory. i also went through a disallusionment stage with them, when i heard one too many cookie-cutter (to my ears, anyway) remix they did.

can anyone give a review of Intensify? what's it like in comparision to earlier WOW?

Not sure exactly how much older WOW you've heard so this is going to be difficult.  To be.. well possibly insultingly concise;  Intensify is deeper and (for the most part) darker.  <br>
I tried typing out a more in-depth comparison, but it turned into incomprehensible rambling.  So forget it.. find a copy or mp3s and give it a listen!

My personal track recommendations: All of the 'S' tracks.  Stealth, Secret, and Shark Hunt.  (Secret seems to be favorite around these parts )
