just saw it. hmmm. 1) too much action. 2) too much computer stuff. 3 too corny. the second one in particular. making yoda a computer character is a crime. although he is SO cool in this episode! yay! he is now officially my favorite character. i think the new Anikin actor (whatever his name is) will do a good job, if he can pull the next episode off (is he even playing Anikin in ep. 3?) the draw of the dark side was well-covered, i have to say. lots of nice threads that will pull the third episode into the original trilogy.

well i agree that there was too much reliance on the computer effects, though the story lin was good and the characters were strong. i thought it was great to have so many aussies involved too.
there was a bit of a love story going on which was a bit soppy compared to the original 3 but all in all it was pretty good. Yado kicked ass and there was a great scene with a huge Jedi fight. did you know there are female jedi's?

hehe, Yado. i agree that the increased Jedi involvement rocked. there was a lot of fleshing out of the Star Wars universe in this one - in episode one they focused on new planets etc., and here they expanded the character base and that side of things (like the stuff with Anikin's step-family). good stuff.

yes, i was so very impressed with the time spent on characters in this one. also, giving Samuel. L. Jackson a bigger part was great. It was also good in the respect that there was relativly little death of main characters.

Well I've seen it three times, and I maintain it's one of the best movies right along side Empire. It's Starwars, I expect lots of action. It's Starwars, I expect lots of pretty CG visuals. It's Starwars, I got a bonus Yoda doing the Bruce Lee stance.... hell yeah. I don't believe it was cheesy, and I don't believe it was overdone in any one way. I thought it was quite excellent (and the CG Yoda was waaaay better then the damn muppet ;0)

not cheesy?! anikin: "i don't like sand. sand is coarse. but i like you. you are smooth." the thing i didn't like about the overuse (IMHO) of CGI was that it drained the heart from the film. let's face it: CGI ain't 100% realistic yet. they've got 99% there, but they're not up to scratch yet. take the water-planet scene: using real water instead of a generated sea would have been soooo much cooler and just as cheap. lucas knows about blue screen technology - he needs to use it for stuff other than CGI/human splicing.

Uhh, you got that quote wrong. There's a bit about it being hard and "it gets everywhere" too. And if I were in that position, I'd tell Natalie Portman that same thing. Rawr!!!
Dude, if Lucas chose to do it with CG then it was meant to be in CG... don't argue with the artist about what is and isn't right. Besides, the water on Camino looked fine, it ain't like one of them crappy Final Fantasy CG videos. I don't think it would have been possible to make those scenes look as good with real water effects anyway. And for the record, CG is way cheaper than filming a whole ton of water someplace, especially with the conditions Lucas was going for in those scenes.

Yeah, now that we've established that me (and about a milliion other guys) find Natalie Portman attractive I'll give a real reply to your cheesy comment. You have to realize the whole reason Anakin ends up becoming Darth Vader is because he never really grows up. If you notice his eightteen year old self still acts remarkably like his eight year old counterpart from the other movies. So too, when he tries to express himself in a situation such as love he ends up sounding like a corny, bumbling fool... like he's still eight. Or have we already forogotten the "are you an angel" bit from TPM? It's the same kind of thing now.

i think the prequels are too awkward. everyone is so used to the originals and the empire, but lucas's attempt to make the origianls hasnt been too good. he continously trys to take out the seriousness, especially in episode 1. even return of the jedi had the ewoks which wasn't entirely serious. he can do better than this
