the lonely star looks down at the world
knowing she'll never belong.
she swallows her pain and drinks her tears
hoping to carry on.
immobile she lies in a sea of black
thinking of all the things she lacks.
in a blanket of velvet she does sleep
afraid to shine, this lonely star weeps.
crying away her days go by
always wondering and asking "why?"
different from others
this star seems
to be one of them
is her greatest dreams
so deep in the darkness
she does lie
and once again
she begins to cry.
the pain so strong
she's unable to cope
she's lost all faith
she's lost all hope.
"Don't cry my lonely star
the pain will soon go very far
you are unique can't you see?
you are so dear and special to me.
wipe those tears from your face
and feel the love in my embrace.
lonely star please come with me
and I will take you where you want to be.
far from all this darkness
you will soon begin to shine
you'll see that it's not quite so bad
it's actually all in your mind."
the lonely star answered
to the voice that she had heard,
"You don't even know me
what you're saying is absurd.
I no longer have the power
nor the will to go on
please just go away let me be, just be gone!"
the voice softly whispered
and silenced her screams of despair.
it had the strength she needed
and provided her with her care.
"You have fallen so deep in the darkness
you no longer recognize light.
please let me guide you
it's going to be alright."
and so the lonely star followed
and soon began to see
that what the voice had told her
was actually reality.
she wanted to thank the voice
for helping her to shine
it was then that she said to herself,
"The voice I heard was mine!"
the voice she heard was that of her own
and thanks to that voice her power had grown.
and now as we all look up to the sky
we see the lonely star brightly shine.
shine away my lonely star
though I know you are very far.
you became what you thought you'd never be
and now you will shine for all eternity!
