Crying Country
Spinifex Rusting rocks laid bare under azure sky’s Heat haze shimmering Pure Chiaroscuro
Dying Country
The rocks mock Their infinite vastness as endless as the universe itself Stardust laughing at transient flesh The dreaming ghosts murmur on the easterly’s Their siren song A lullaby for the disenfranchised fringe-dwellers And lonely dreamers
Artefacts litter the ancient soil Detritus of a lost, broken people Black and White A language now extinct A culture lost All in the name of progress.
